Hutchison 3G Ireland Limited interconnects with Tesco Mobile Ireland Limited

The Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) welcomes the conclusion of an agreement between Hutchison 3G Ireland Limited (3) and Tesco Mobile Ireland Limited (Tesco Mobile) such that 3's customers and Tesco Mobile's customers can now make calls to customers of each other's networks. Until now, it had not been possible for customers of 3 to make calls to Tesco Mobile customers.
ComReg believes that consumers expect to be able to call any Irish network, irrespective of their choice of mobile or fixed line operator and this development removes a problem about which many consumers have complained to ComReg.
This development will benefit the customers of both 3 and Tesco Mobile and will increase the level of choice available to all Irish consumers.
