A Web site that wants to allow other sites to publish some of its content creates an RSS document and registers the document with an RSS publisher. A user that can read RSS-distributed content can use the content on a different site.

Syndicated content includes such data as news feeds, events listings, news stories, headlines, project updates, excerpts from discussion forums or even corporate information.

For the third year running, ComReg sponsored a Special Award in the Technology category at the 2011 BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition for the project which provided the most innovative application of technology in radiocommunications. The winner of the award was Rory Flynn from Newbridge College, Kildare for his project entitled Eirspeed: A fast, reliable connection to the internet using multiple wireless modems, networks and technologies.
ComReg operates a novel spectrum licensing regime to encourage innovation and development involving new radio technologies or services. Two licence types are available, one covering technology tests and the other covering service trials involving third parties or the public.
ComReg's Trend unit collects primary statistical data from authorised operators on a quarterly basis, in order to both understand current trends in the Irish communications market and inform external users. This data is published as our Irish Communications: Key Data Report and data is presented for the previous calendar quarter.
