ComReg is currently active in a number of industry fora.
This section contains a list of the current industry fora that are taking place under the auspices of ComReg. Industry Fora provide an opportunity for the industry and ComReg to work together to: develop and agree new wholesale products, to discuss operational issues; to examine whether existing industry programmes should be refined.
Most industry fora have a defined duration and fixed terms of reference whereas some fora would meet less regularly but would not have an end date.
Local Loop Unbundling (LLU)
The LLU Steering Committee is the umbrella forum for the suite of LLU products which includes Line Share, Unbundled Local Metallic Path (ULMP), combined Geographic Number Portability and ULMP (GLUMP). The work of the committee is discharged through a number of active sub working group s which meets from time to time.
- LLU Sub Group – Process Working Group
The LLU PWG (Process Working Group) is currently the most active forum, meeting on a weekly basis. It is tasked with the management and development of the suite of LLU products including migrations processes.
- LLU Sub Group – CLFMP Working Group
The CLFMP is a sub group of the LLU Steering committee. The CLFMP is charged with the management and development of the frequency plan for the copper local loop to ensure that all operators adhere to the agreed standards for equipment deployed on the eircom local loop.
- LLU Sub Group – Co-location Working Group
The co-location working group charged with the management and development of the frequency plan for the copper local loop to ensure that all operators adhere to the agreed standards for equipment deployed on the eircom local loop.
Leased Lines
This group meets quarterly to discuss and agree operational, maintenance and product development issues for the Leased Line and Partial Private Circuit (PPC) products. This group has replaced the eircom chaired ‘Carrier Services’ industry forum.
Carrier Pre Selection / Single Billing –Wholesale Line Rental
The group meets regularly to discuss and agree operational, maintenance and product development issues for the CPS and SB-WLR products. Membership of the committee is drawn from a broad base of fixed telecoms operators and resellers.
Mobile Number Portability
This MNP Service Establishment Group (MNP SEG) is currently in session to coordinate the inter-operator testing program to launch the first Mobile Virtual Network Operator in the mobile market in Ireland on the 089 numbering range.
Directory Information Services Forum (DISF)
The Directory Information Services Forum (DISF) will deal with issues related to the implementation of Data Protection Legislation (S.I. 192 of 2002 Data Protection and Privacy in Telecommunications Regulations) impacting on the Directory Services Market and operational issues related to the National Directory Database.
Numbering Advisory Panel
The Numbering Advisory Panel (NAP) is comprised of representatives from the telecommunications industry, consumers groups and ComReg. The NAP meets as required to provide expert advice to ComReg on procedural and policy decisions in relation to specific numbering and numbering related issues.
