{"id":90408,"date":"2016-03-07T11:35:37","date_gmt":"2016-03-07T11:35:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/comreg.ie.grigore"},"modified":"2021-10-02T18:38:58","modified_gmt":"2021-10-02T18:38:58","slug":"ceisteanna-coitianta","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.comreg.ie\/ga\/tionsclaiocht\/rialachan-poist\/ceisteanna-coitianta\/","title":{"rendered":"Ceisteanna Coitianta"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span lang=\"en\">ComReg\u2019s role?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">ComReg was established as the National Regulatory Authority for the postal sector in Ireland by the <a title=\"This link will open in a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/www.irishstatutebook.ie\/2002\/en\/act\/pub\/0020\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Communications Regulation Act 2002.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>ComReg\u2019s regulatory remit includes ensuring the sustainable provision of a universal postal service, while providing all postal service users (consumers, small businesses, and large organisations) with the choice, quality, and innovation offered by a liberalised market.<\/p>\n<p>ComReg\u2019s <strong>powers and functions<\/strong> are provided for by the Communications Regulation Act 2002 and the Communications Regulation (Postal Services) Act 2011 (<a title=\"This link will open in a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/www.irishstatutebook.ie\/2011\/en\/act\/pub\/0021\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cThe 2011 Act\u201d<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>ComReg\u2019s <strong>statutory objectives<\/strong> in relation to the provision of postal services are;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>(i) to promote the development of the postal sector and, in particular, the availability of a universal postal service within, to and from the State at an affordable price for the benefit of all postal service users,<\/li>\n<li>(ii) to promote the interests of postal service users (any person benefiting from postal service provision as a sender or as an addressee) within the Community, and<\/li>\n<li>(iii) subject to subparagraph (i), to facilitate the development of competition and innovation in the market for postal service provision<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>ComReg\u2019s <strong>strategy<\/strong> and its actions and indicative timing of these actions over the next two years is set out in its\u00a0<a href=\"\/media\/2016\/03\/17113DESIGN.pdf\">Postal Strategy Statement 2018 \u2013 2020<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ComReg\u2019s role?
