{"id":90478,"date":"2016-04-12T12:03:32","date_gmt":"2016-04-12T12:03:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/comreg.ie.grigore"},"modified":"2021-10-02T18:39:55","modified_gmt":"2021-10-02T18:39:55","slug":"ce-solathraionn-seirbhisi-poist","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.comreg.ie\/ga\/tionsclaiocht\/rialachan-poist\/ceisteanna-coitianta\/ce-solathraionn-seirbhisi-poist\/","title":{"rendered":"C\u00e9 a shol\u00e1thra\u00edonn seirbhis\u00ed poist?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span lang=\"en\">What is a postal service?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">The term \u201cpostal services\u201d is defined by the Communications Regulation (Postal Services) Act 2011 (\u201c<a title=\"This link will open in a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/www.irishstatutebook.ie\/2011\/en\/act\/pub\/0021\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the 2011 Act<\/a>\u201d) as \u201cservices involving the clearance, sorting, transport and distribution of postal packets\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The two distinguishing features of a \u201cpostal packet\u201d are that it is addressed and that it has been accepted or intended for transmission by post.<\/p>\n<p>ComReg has concluded that \u201cDocument Exchange\u201d and \u201cExpress and Courier services\u201d and the delivery of unaddressed advertising material are not \u201cpostal services\u201d.<\/p>\n<h2><span lang=\"en\">Who provides postal services?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">A number of postal service providers operate in Ireland.
