Radio Links are used mainly by fixed and mobile phone operators, broadcasters, public utilities and the emergency services to provide transmission capacity and networks, and to provide redundancy and back up for other networks. Some operators use Radio Links as an economic alternative to leased lines and optical fibre.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Application Form<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Applications for radio links are made using ComReg\u2019s online facility which is available at www.elicensing.comreg.ie<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Applicants must be a ComReg \u00a0account holder; If not, applicants can register for a ComReg account at www.elicensing.comreg.ie<\/a><\/p>\n

The application data must be compiled into a data file (.xml) by the applicant prior to making the application; This file is then uploaded during the online application process.<\/p>\n

Details on the file format and how to compile the.xml file are available on the elicensing website www.elicensing.comreg.ie<\/a>\u00a0in the area entitled: \u201capply for a Fixed Link (PP or PM) Licence\u201d.<\/p>\n

Regulations<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Licensee must comply with the Wireless Telegraphy (Radio Link Licence) Regulations S.I. no. 370 of 2009<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Radio Link Services<\/strong><\/p>\n

High \/ Low Database<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

To minimise the interference between Point-to-Point Radio Links >1GHz, ComReg maintains a High\/Low database.
\nThis database shows the designation of each point-to-point link site registered with ComReg as either a High Frequency or Low Frequency designation.<\/p>\n

Prior to submitting an application to ComReg, applicants should consult the high \/ low database to ensure that the sites in their application do not have a high\/low designation conflict, as ComReg will not licence a link with a high\/low designation conflict.<\/p>\n

Equipment Reference Codes<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Before submitting an application to ComReg for a Point-to-Point Radio Link Licence\u00a0>1 GHz, the specifications of the antenna, radio transmitter and feeders must be registered on ComReg\u2019s Equipment Reference Code database.<\/p>\n
