{"id":122200,"date":"2022-10-04T15:42:29","date_gmt":"2022-10-04T15:42:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.comreg.ie\/?p=122200"},"modified":"2022-11-07T17:27:18","modified_gmt":"2022-11-07T17:27:18","slug":"comreg-consumer-news-q3-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.comreg.ie\/ga\/comreg-consumer-news-q3-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"ComReg Consumer News Q3 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During the third quarter of 2022 (July to September), ComReg\u2019s consumer news and publications included the following:<\/p>\n<p>Our consumer news <strong>informed consumers<\/strong> on <a href=\"\/how-to-help-prevent-marketing-calls-you-do-not-want\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">how to help prevent unwanted marketing calls<\/a>. We also informed consumers about their rights around <a href=\"\/can-i-still-receive-a-paper-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">receiving paper bills for Electronic Communications Services<\/a>. We reminded consumers that <a href=\"\/your-broadband-speed-information-is-in-your-contract\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">broadband speed information is in their contract<\/a> and notified of a <a href=\"\/industrial-relations-dispute-at-royal-mail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Royal Mail industrial relations dispute<\/a> in the UK and Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>We <strong>advised consumers<\/strong> of the benefits of a <a href=\"\/improvements-to-eu-roaming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new roaming regulation<\/a> allowing mobile phone users to \u2018roam like at home\u2019 in the EU for another ten years and of the potential costs when <a href=\"\/roaming-outside-eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">roaming outside the EU<\/a>. We also advised consumers of <a href=\"\/comregs-consumer-care\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ComReg\u2019s Consumer Care team<\/a> who are there to provide information, advice and support if experiencing a phone service and\/or broadband service issue.<\/p>\n<p>Our <strong>compliance <\/strong>work resulted in ComReg issuing an <a href=\"\/comreg-issues-an-opinion-of-non-compliance-to-virgin-media-ireland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Opinion of Non-Compliance to Virgin Media<\/a> in relation to contract termination conditions and procedures. We also <a href=\"\/comreg-notified-eircom-of-non-compliance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">notified Eircom of non-compliance<\/a> regarding contract change notifications and a we issued a <a href=\"\/comreg-issues-a-notification-of-a-finding-of-non-compliance-to-three\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Notification of a Finding of Non-Compliance to Three<\/a> with respect to details of prices and tariffs provided in customer contracts. Vodafone <a href=\"\/vodafone-refunds-74000-customers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">refunded approximately 74,000 customers<\/a> over \u20ac2 million in \u201cpost cancellation charges\u201d and other credits following a ComReg inquiry.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, in respect of <strong>research and reports<\/strong> our consumer news highlighted the <a href=\"\/irish-text-relay-service-itrs-take-up-and-usage-statistics-jan-jun-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Irish Text Relay Service (ITRS) Take-Up and Usage Statistics<\/a> for the period January to June 2022.
