{"id":124138,"date":"2023-04-05T15:37:32","date_gmt":"2023-04-05T15:37:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.comreg.ie\/?p=124138"},"modified":"2023-05-26T16:18:34","modified_gmt":"2023-05-26T16:18:34","slug":"comreg-consumer-news-q1-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.comreg.ie\/ga\/comreg-consumer-news-q1-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"ComReg Consumer News Q1 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During the first quarter of 2023 (January to March), ComReg\u2019s consumer news and publications included the following:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>We <strong>informed consumers<\/strong> about<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>their rights around <a href=\"\/can-i-still-get-a-paper-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">receiving paper bills<\/a> for Electronic Communications Services;<\/li>\n<li>ComReg\u2019s publication of a <a href=\"\/best-practice-guide-for-businesses-contacting-consumers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">best practice guide for businesses<\/a> to help protect their customers from scam calls and messages; and<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"\/how-comreg-is-tackling-scam-calls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">how ComReg is tackling scam calls<\/a>, with some helpful tips for the public and what businesses can do.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We <strong>advised consumers<\/strong> to<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"\/download-the-mobile-coverage-map\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">download ComReg\u2019s Mobile Coverage App<\/a>; and<\/li>\n<li>update direct debit details when <a href=\"\/switching-banks-remember-to-update-your-new-payment-details-with-your-service-provider\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">switching bank accounts<\/a> from Ulster Bank and KBC banks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In terms of <strong>research and reports<\/strong> we<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>published <a href=\"\/comreg-publishes-consumer-care-statistics-report-q4-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Q4 Consumer Care Statistics<\/a> with details of issues raised by consumers who contacted ComReg\u2019s Consumer Care team from 1 October to 31 December 2022;<\/li>\n<li>published the <a href=\"\/irish-text-relay-service-itrs-take-up-and-usage-statistics-jul-dec-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Irish Text Relay Service (ITRS) Take-Up and Usage Statistics<\/a> for the period July to December 2022;<\/li>\n<li>reminded consumers of the approaching deadline for submissions to a consultation on <a href=\"\/consultation-deadline-approaching-for-comregs-electronic-communications-sector-strategy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ComReg\u2019s Electronic Communications Sector Strategy<\/a>; and<\/li>\n<li>launched a <a href=\"\/consultation-launched-on-customer-charter-for-internet-and-phone-providers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">consultation on the implementation of a Customer Charter<\/a> for providers of internet and phone services and <a href=\"\/consultation-deadline-extended-on-customer-charter-for-internet-and-phone-providers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">extended the deadline for submissions<\/a> to that consultation until 3 May.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our <strong>compliance <\/strong>work resulted in <a href=\"\/three-ireland-convicted-for-breaches-of-the-roaming-regulation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Three paying a fine<\/a> due to breaches of the Roaming Regulation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During the first quarter of 2023 (January to March), ComReg\u2019s consumer news and publications included the following: \u00a0We informed consumers about their rights around receiving &hellip;
