{"id":124930,"date":"2023-07-04T14:30:17","date_gmt":"2023-07-04T14:30:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.comreg.ie\/?p=124930"},"modified":"2023-07-19T09:19:54","modified_gmt":"2023-07-19T09:19:54","slug":"comreg-consumer-news-q2-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.comreg.ie\/ga\/comreg-consumer-news-q2-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"ComReg Consumer News Q2 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During the second quarter of 2023 (April to June), ComReg\u2019s consumer news and publications included the following:<\/p>\n<p>We <strong>informed consumers<\/strong> about<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>our <a href=\"\/visit-us-at-the-50-plus-show-in-the-rds-dublin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stand at The 50 Plus Show<\/a> in the RDS, Dublin;<\/li>\n<li>tests on a <a href=\"\/uk-emergency-alert-service-test-sunday-23-april-at-3pm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new Emergency Alert system in the UK<\/a> if mobile phone customers near border areas roamed into a UK mobile network while tests were underway.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We <strong>advised consumers<\/strong> to<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>be vigilant and wary of an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.comreg.ie\/scam-text-warning-increasing-number-of-text-message-scams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">increase in scam text messages<\/a> being sent to consumers;<\/li>\n<li>visit our Service Checker tool if <a href=\"\/unexpected-charge-for-a-call-or-text-on-your-phone-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unsure about a charge for a call or text<\/a> which might be a Premium Rate Service (PRS).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In terms of <strong>research and reports<\/strong> we<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>published <a href=\"\/comreg-publishes-consumer-care-statistics-report-q1-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Q1 Consumer Care Statistics<\/a> with details of issues raised by consumers who contacted ComReg\u2019s Consumer Care team from 1 January to 31 March 2023;<\/li>\n<li>extended the <a href=\"\/consultation-deadline-extended-on-customer-charter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deadline for submissions<\/a> to the consultation on the implementation of a Customer Charter and <a href=\"\/consultation-deadline-approaching-on-customer-charter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reminded consumers when that deadline<\/a> was approaching;<\/li>\n<li>Launched a consultation on <a href=\"\/comreg-is-consulting-on-combatting-scam-calls-and-texts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">combatting scam calls and texts<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our <strong>compliance <\/strong>work resulted in<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"\/district-court-prosecution-against-sky-for-breaches-of-the-porting-regulations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a District Court prosecution against SKY<\/a> for breaches of the porting regulations;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"\/meteor-to-refund-55000-customers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meteor refunding 55,000 customers<\/a> for certain data charges;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"\/eircom-to-refund-customers-for-overcharging-and-pay-a-penalty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eircom refunding customers and paying a penalty<\/a> for overcharging;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"\/sky-paid-54000-for-failing-to-put-required-information-on-bills\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sky paying \u20ac54,000<\/a> for failing to put required information on bills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During the second quarter of 2023 (April to June), ComReg\u2019s consumer news and publications included the following: We informed consumers about our stand at The &hellip;
