{"id":130499,"date":"2024-08-15T09:29:03","date_gmt":"2024-08-15T09:29:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.comreg.ie\/?p=130499"},"modified":"2024-09-19T08:36:47","modified_gmt":"2024-09-19T08:36:47","slug":"how-to-switch-phone-or-broadband-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.comreg.ie\/ga\/how-to-switch-phone-or-broadband-service\/","title":{"rendered":"How to switch phone or broadband service"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishstatutebook.ie\/eli\/2022\/si\/444\/made\/en\/print\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EU (Electronic Communications Code) Regulations 2022<\/a> came into operation in Ireland on 9 June 2023 and introduced some additional consumer rights.<\/p>\n<p>The best time to look for a new phone or broadband service is if you are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>coming to the end of your minimum contract term<\/li>\n<li>no longer within the minimum term of your contract<\/li>\n<li>when there is a change to your contractual conditions allowing for a right of exit without penalty<\/li>\n<li>if you are in contract with no minimum term.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Switching Information<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>When you choose to switch your service, you can <u>contact your new service provider<\/u> who should take responsibility for leading the switching process and coordinating with your transferring service provider. If any issues in this process lead to you losing service, this <strong>must not exceed one working day<\/strong>.
