ComReg is developing an SMS Sender ID Registry to prevent text message scams and to help protect the SMS channel as a reliable and trustworthy communications channel in Ireland.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Application-to-Person (A2P) SMS messages often include an alphanumeric identifier, or SMS Sender ID, that may be the name of the company or brand that sent the message (e.g., 234BANK).<\/span>\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

SMS Aggregators and Mobile Service Providers <\/span>handling bulk SMS traffic on behalf of organisations<\/span> need to <\/span>pre-register the SMS Sender IDs in use by those organisations by <\/span>25 February 2025<\/span><\/b>. To participate, SMS Aggregators and MSPs are asked to email <\/span>senderid@comreg.ie<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Later in 2025, text messages with unregistered SMS Sender IDs will be blocked.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Organisations using SMS Sender IDs in their text messages to customers should check that their SMS provider has pre-registered their existing SMS Sender IDs.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
