{"id":135043,"date":"2025-07-08T12:54:36","date_gmt":"2025-07-08T12:54:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.comreg.ie\/?p=135043"},"modified":"2025-08-28T15:54:33","modified_gmt":"2025-08-28T15:54:33","slug":"consumer-news-from-q2-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.comreg.ie\/ga\/consumer-news-from-q2-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Consumer News from Q2 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During the second quarter of 2025 (April to June), ComReg had a range of news for consumers that included some of the following topics:<\/p>\n<p>We <strong>informed consumers<\/strong> about<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>checking what <a href=\"\/did-you-know-you-can-check-what-broadband-is-available-in-your-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">broadband is available<\/a> at their home;<\/li>\n<li>checking what <a href=\"\/did-you-know-you-can-check-mobile-coverage-at-your-location\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mobile coverage<\/a> is at their location;<\/li>\n<li>checking what <a href=\"\/did-you-know-you-can-check-what-phone-or-broadband-plan-best-suits-your-needs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">phone or broadband plan<\/a> best suits their needs;<\/li>\n<li>their contract including their <a href=\"\/did-you-know-your-contract-should-include-your-broadband-speed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">broadband speed<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>our launch of an <a href=\"\/comreg-launches-sms-sender-id-registry-to-help-prevent-text-scams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SMS Sender ID Registry<\/a> to help prevent text scams.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We <strong>advised consumers<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>on <a href=\"\/annual-price-increases-your-guide-to-switching-and-saving\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">annual price increases<\/a> and switching and saving;<\/li>\n<li>that our <a href=\"\/our-consumer-care-team-is-here-to-help-you\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Consumer Care<\/a> team is here to help them;<\/li>\n<li>to visit our stand at <a href=\"\/visit-us-at-the-50-plus-show-in-galway-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The 50 Plus Show<\/a> in Galway.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In terms of <strong>reports<\/strong> and other <strong>publications<\/strong> we issued<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>our <a href=\"\/comreg-publishes-consumer-care-statistics-report-q1-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Q1 Consumer Care Statistics<\/a> with details of issues raised by consumers who contacted ComReg\u2019s Consumer Care team from January to March 2025;<\/li>\n<li>new standards service providers must follow for <a href=\"\/new-standards-service-providers-must-follow-for-missed-or-delayed-appointments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">missed or delayed appointments<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>our Decision for service providers on implementing a <a href=\"\/a-customer-charter-to-be-implemented-by-internet-and-phone-service-providers\/?type=consumer-news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Customer Charter<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>an information notice on the <a href=\"\/the-european-accessibility-act-eaa-introduces-new-rights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Accessibility Act (EAA)<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We <strong>sought your views<\/strong> on<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>our consultation on the <a href=\"\/consultation-on-the-code-of-practice-for-complaints-handling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Code of Practice for Complaints Handling<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our <strong>compliance<\/strong> work resulted in<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Virgin Media ensuring its <a href=\"\/high-court-finds-virgin-media-failed-to-comply-with-regulatory-obligations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">contract termination conditions<\/a> do not disincentivise customers from changing service providers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During the second quarter of 2025 (April to June), ComReg had a range of news for consumers that included some of the following topics: We &hellip;
