{"id":138016,"date":"2026-03-12T11:55:07","date_gmt":"2026-03-12T11:55:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.comreg.ie\/?p=138016"},"modified":"2026-03-12T11:55:07","modified_gmt":"2026-03-12T11:55:07","slug":"comreg-issues-electronic-communications-sector-quarterly-report-for-q4-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.comreg.ie\/ga\/comreg-issues-electronic-communications-sector-quarterly-report-for-q4-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"ComReg issues Electronic Communications Sector Quarterly Report for Q4 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) today released its Quarterly Key Data Report on the Electronic Communications market for the period (1 October to 31 December), Q4 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) subscriber lines stand at 1,050,123 million in Q4 2025, representing 59% of total fixed broadband subscriber lines, up from 51% in Q4 2024. Overall, fixed broadband subscriber lines increased to 1.76 million, an increase of 4% compared to Q4 2024.<\/p>\n<p>ComReg\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdatamaps-comreg.hub.arcgis.com%2F&amp;data=05%7C02%7Cclodagh.mcginley%40comreg.ie%7Cd49f0f6f99654461d68908de802d33c2%7C7e3063639dee4b8d8a6b4fee706b37fa%7C0%7C0%7C639089128818231141%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=2SLm1ppCubzMh4B4TYxZhJkqiW5jcy2cJM8WGLUDTDI%3D&amp;reserved=0\">Open Data Map Hub<\/a> includes Q4 data on Coverage and Take-Up of Gigabit Broadband (FTTP and Cable) by County, Electoral Division and other geographical areas across Ireland. The county with the highest level of FTTP coverage is Westmeath at 95%. Westmeath also has the highest level of Gigabit coverage at 96%.<\/p>\n<p>FTTP is the most purchased broadband technology and is available at 84% of all premises in Ireland. Gigabit broadband is available at 90% of all premises in Ireland. In terms of FTTP take up, 51% of all premises with FTTP available had an active FTTP service at the end of Q4 2025.<\/p>\n<p>On a monthly basis an average residential fixed broadband subscriber line used 563 GB of data, an increase of 11% since Q4 2024. Businesses have used 371 GB of data, an increase of 8% compared to Q4 2024.<\/p>\n<p>In Q4 2025, approximately 71% of fixed broadband subscriber lines had purchased broadband with speeds greater or equal to 500Mbps, up from 65% in Q4 2024, while 24% purchased broadband speeds greater than or equal to 1Gbps. Of the 1,050,123 FTTP subscriber lines, 93% have broadband speeds greater than or equal to 500 Mbps.<\/p>\n<p>Total mobile subscriptions (including mobile broadband and machine-to-machine (M2M) increased to 10.8 million in Q4 2025 &#8211; driven by a rise in bill pay subscriptions which represent 78% of all mobile subscriptions. 5G subscribers increased to 2.8 million in Q4 2025, an increase of 43% since Q4 2024.<\/p>\n<p>On a monthly basis an average mobile voice subscriber used 150 minutes, sent 32 texts (8% annual decrease), and used 21GB of data (13% annual increase).<\/p>\n<p>The Quarterly Key Data Report for Q4 2025 is available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.comreg.ie%2Findustry%2Felectronic-communications%2Fmarket-information%2Fquarterly-key-data-report%2F&amp;data=05%7C02%7Cclodagh.mcginley%40comreg.ie%7Cd49f0f6f99654461d68908de802d33c2%7C7e3063639dee4b8d8a6b4fee706b37fa%7C0%7C0%7C639089128818261909%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=laOcyAuAvmsgmn1c6TYErH3Tr9n50RSUi3KRARoaKWM%3D&amp;reserved=0\">Quarterly Key Data Report section<\/a> of ComReg.ie.
