{"id":138126,"date":"2026-04-01T08:01:28","date_gmt":"2026-04-01T08:01:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.comreg.ie\/?p=138126"},"modified":"2026-04-01T09:42:17","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T09:42:17","slug":"consumer-news-from-q1-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.comreg.ie\/ga\/consumer-news-from-q1-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Consumer News from Q1 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During the first quarter of 2026 (January to March), ComReg had a range of news for consumers that included some of the following topics:<\/p>\n<p>We <strong>informed consumers<\/strong> about<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"\/check-your-contract-summary-before-you-sign-up\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">contract summary<\/a> rights for phone and broadband services;<\/li>\n<li>how to <a href=\"\/how-to-complain-to-your-phone-or-broadband-provider\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">complain<\/a> about your mobile, home phone or broadband service;<\/li>\n<li>finding phone and broadband plans without <a href=\"\/find-phone-and-broadband-plans-without-annual-price-increases-on-comreg-compare\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">annual price increases<\/a> on ComReg Compare;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"\/your-provider-should-send-you-an-end-of-contract-notice-and-best-tariff-advice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">end of contract notice and best tariff advice<\/a> for phone and broadband customers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We <strong>advised consumers<\/strong> to<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>visit <a href=\"\/compare-phone-and-broadband-plans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ComReg Compare<\/a> to find the best mobile, broadband, home phone or bundles plan;<\/li>\n<li>consider using a <a href=\"\/in-severe-weather-a-battery-back-up-can-help-you-stay-connected\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">battery back-up<\/a> during a power outage to remain connected to the internet;<\/li>\n<li>be <a href=\"\/be-vigilant-against-scams-this-valentines-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vigilant against scams<\/a> around Valentine\u2019s Day;<\/li>\n<li>visit our stand at <a href=\"\/visit-us-at-the-50-plus-show-in-dublin-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The 50 Plus Show<\/a> in Dublin in March.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In terms of <strong>reports<\/strong> and <strong>publications<\/strong> we<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a <a href=\"\/consultation-on-the-code-of-practice-for-postal-complaints-handling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">consultation<\/a> on proposed new minimum requirements for complaints handling codes of practice for postal service providers;<\/li>\n<li>the Irish Text Relay Service (ITRS) <a href=\"\/irish-text-relay-service-usage-report-published-for-january-to-december-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">take-up and usage statistics report<\/a> for the period from 1 January to 31 December 2025;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"\/comreg-publishes-consumer-care-report-q4-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Q4 Consumer Care Statistics<\/a> on issues raised by consumers who contacted ComReg\u2019s Consumer Care team from October to December 2025.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our <strong>compliance<\/strong> work resulted in<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High Court finding <a href=\"\/high-court-finds-sky-failed-to-comply-with-regulatory-obligations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sky to be in breach of EU obligations<\/a> to provide its customers with end of contract notifications;<\/li>\n<li>Eircom to <a href=\"\/eircom-to-refund-customers-over-305000-in-international-call-charges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">refund over \u20ac305,000<\/a> in international call charges to approximately 14,800 customers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During the first quarter of 2026 (January to March), ComReg had a range of news for consumers that included some of the following topics: We &hellip;
