Eoin, Strategy & Research Analyst

Commissioners Office Division

I joined the Commissioner’s Office as a Strategy & Research Analyst in 2020 with a Degree in Economics & Business. I was previously part of the ComReg graduate programme.

Our team’s areas of responsibility include strategy and research, data management, coordination of international activities and providing economic advice. My role in the team is full of variety and involves designing surveys, supporting cross-divisional economic projects, and contributing to reports in emerging areas such as digital regulation and climate change.

The most enjoyable aspect of my role is that I have the opportunity explore a range of “hot topic” issues that are of strategic importance for the organisation.

Learning from professionals in a multi-disciplinary environment, I have developed a wide range of skills. My manager ensures I am challenged, training courses have helped me develop my understanding of the telecoms sector and I have had the opportunity to develop my personal competencies across a broad range of topics. The mentoring programme provided me with an excellent opportunity to engage with a senior colleague and further my development.

There is a strong emphasis on staff well-being.

Frequently, speakers provide advice on topics that bring personal and professional benefits including managing stress, improving sleep and resilience. Yoga and meditation are delivered on a regular basis and the annual Step Challenge builds a sense of fun and community. Social club events provide an opportunity to socialise and to build relationships and it’s great to see this sense of community maintained while working remotely.

I would describe ComReg’s culture as professional, friendly, and supportive. There is an emphasis on professional development. As a result of this culture, I feel valued and part of the organisation.

I would recommend working in ComReg as it is both an interesting and challenging environment and it’s rewarding to know I am contributing to the interests of end-users and society.
