ComReg’s Spectrum Intelligence & Investigations (SII) unit plays a vital role in protecting Ireland’s radio spectrum and ensuring reliable communications services.
As illustrated in the graphic below, the 2024 – 2025 reporting year highlights a strong focus on enforcement, public safety, and responding promptly to radio interference. These figures demonstrate the ongoing commitment of the SII unit to maintain a safe, interference-free radio spectrum and support essential communications services throughout Ireland.
This work is underpinned by the Radio Frequency Monitoring Network (RFMN), which provides the technical capability to detect, locate, and analyse radio frequency signals across the country. By identifying unauthorised usage, the RFMN is essential in supporting the unit’s enforcement activities and interference investigations.
