At 3pm on Sunday, 7 September 2025 the UK Government will test the UK Emergency Alerts system.
The test alert will be sent to compatible 4G and 5G devices across the UK.
Mobile phone customers on mobile networks in Ireland won’t receive the message, but those with compatible 4G and 5G devices near border areas roaming onto a UK mobile network may get the alert.
Recipients will hear a loud, siren-like sound and the phone will use a distinct vibration. If you have a vision or hearing impairment, audio and vibration attention signals will let you know you have received the test.
The UK Emergency Alerts system enables the UK Government and emergency services to send ‘alerts’ and advice to all mobile phones and devices during life-threatening emergencies, such as an extreme weather event, across Britain and Northern Ireland.
This test is not a real emergency and requires no action.
