Contract Summary Template Draft Act

Contract Summary Template Draft Act – The EC Would Like To Hear Your View

From 2021 electronic communications consumers will be entitled to receive a contract summary when entering into a contract for both stand-alone and bundled services. The purpose of this is to set out the main terms of the service offer in a clear and understandable form to enable consumers to more easily compare services offered by different providers.

What this summary contains for all EU countries is now being consulted on by the European Commission, who is inviting comments on a draft Implementing Regulation for a contract summary template available at this link.  The deadline for feedback is 09 September 2019 (midnight Brussels time).

The implementing regulation will specify a contract summary template as required by Article 102 of Directive EU 2018/1972 establishing the European Electronic Communications Code. The contract summary must be made available to all consumers by providers of electronic communications services.

The initiative is part of the recent major reform of EU telecoms rules – the European Electronic Communications Code.
