During the first quarter of 2026 (January to March), ComReg had a range of news for consumers that included some of the following topics:
We informed consumers about
- contract summary rights for phone and broadband services;
- how to complain about your mobile, home phone or broadband service;
- finding phone and broadband plans without annual price increases on ComReg Compare;
- end of contract notice and best tariff advice for phone and broadband customers.
We advised consumers to
- visit ComReg Compare to find the best mobile, broadband, home phone or bundles plan;
- consider using a battery back-up during a power outage to remain connected to the internet;
- be vigilant against scams around Valentine’s Day;
- visit our stand at The 50 Plus Show in Dublin in March.
In terms of reports and publications we
- a consultation on proposed new minimum requirements for complaints handling codes of practice for postal service providers;
- the Irish Text Relay Service (ITRS) take-up and usage statistics report for the period from 1 January to 31 December 2025;
- Q4 Consumer Care Statistics on issues raised by consumers who contacted ComReg’s Consumer Care team from October to December 2025.
Our compliance work resulted in
- High Court finding Sky to be in breach of EU obligations to provide its customers with end of contract notifications;
- Eircom to refund over €305,000 in international call charges to approximately 14,800 customers.
