Digital Regulators Group welcomes publication of Digital Ireland – Connecting our People, Securing our Future

As part of The Digital Regulators Group (DRG), ComReg welcomes the publication of Digital Ireland – Connecting our People, Securing our Future, the National Digital & AI Strategy 2030.  The members of the DRG – the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), Coimisiún na Meán (CnaM), the Data Protection Commission (DPC) and the Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) – strongly support the Strategy’s ambition to position Ireland as a trusted, future‑focused digital regulatory hub.

The DRG particularly welcomes the Government’s commitment to strengthening the DRG, enhancing regulatory coordination, and in particular, ensuring that Ireland’s digital regulators are well‑resourced to meet the challenges presented in the digital space. Improved cooperation, streamlined regulatory processes and stronger cross‑agency engagement are important tools to provide a strong regulatory environment for people and businesses alike.

The DRG looks forward to continued collaboration across regulators and government in advancing a fair digital economy.

Garrett Blaney, Commissioner & Chair of ComReg stated:

“The important role of cybersecurity and resilient digital infrastructure is reflected in the new National Digital & AI Strategy. As digital regulators, we seek to protect consumers while encouraging innovation and investment – objectives captured in the title theme ‘Connecting our People, Securing our Future’. ComReg supports the Government’s ambition to place Ireland on a better footing to absorb future challenges to our critical digital infrastructure, including via the Digital Regulatory Hub and Centre of Expertise.
