Minister Naughten announces recruitment process for the appointment of ComReg Commissioners

The Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment, Denis Naughten TD, has announced a recruitment process to appoint two ComReg Commissioners.

Commission Chairperson Mr. Gerry Fahy has elected not to seek re-appointment for a second term as a ComReg Commissioner.  Mr Fahy informed the Minister of his decision in April. Mr Fahy will complete his term in ComReg at the end of August.

Separately Commissioner Kevin O’Brien, who is in his second and final term as a Commissioner with ComReg, is also stepping down as a Commissioner in August. Mr O’Brien is taking up a position as Head of Division for Consumer Protection Policy and Authorisations with the Central Bank following an open competition for that position.  Mr O’Brien was due to finish his final term as a Commissioner in October 2019. Mr. O’Brien informed the Minister of his decision to leave ComReg in June and he will leave ComReg in mid-August.

Commissioner Jeremy Godfrey will be reappointed for a second term as a Commissioner, commencing in September 2018.
