ComReg publishes first Irish Language Scheme

The Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) has published its first Irish Language Scheme. The scheme has been prepared under section 11 of the Official Languages Act 2003 and in accordance with guidelines issued by Oifig an Choimisineára Teanga and the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.

ComReg’s key commitments under the scheme include:

  • Ensuring reception staff can help consumer contact designated staff members who speak Irish, where available, for callers wishing to conduct their business with ComReg through Irish .
  • Increase Irish language content on our website www.comreg.ie, focussing specifically on consumer content.

Suggestions and feedback are welcome to gaeilge@comreg.ie. Responsibility for monitoring and reviewing the scheme will rest with the Public Affairs Unit.

The scheme commenced on 20 March 2017 and will remain in force for a period of 3 years or until such a times as a new scheme has been confirmed by the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.
