Karen, Telecoms Analyst

Market Framework Division

I’m a Telecoms Analyst, working in the Market Framework division since 2000. I have a background in applied science and wireless communications research. I joined ComReg as a radio engineer and progressed to strategy development and research coordination.

Day to day my role involves project management, communicating with stakeholders, coordinating, and chairing meetings, as well as research and policy development. The numbering team is small, but we support each other and cooperate well. New ideas are appreciated, and we collaborate to get things done.

What I enjoy and find most rewarding is the opportunity for learning every day and working with helpful colleagues.

There are lots of opportunities for learning and developing.  I’ve worked in several areas over the last 20 years and have gained national and international experience.

Working on multi‑disciplinary teams has given me insight into different areas and perspectives.  I’ve acquired skills, ranging from teamwork and communications, to analytical and project management skills. Prioritising important tasks when there are many deadlines approaching is the most challenging aspect of my role.  My participation in a European working group, was a great opportunity to progress spectrum issues with international colleagues.

ComReg supports its employees by encouraging continuing professional development and there are many learning and development opportunities to assist with this.

We have a well-being programme that is relevant and a great support. The flexibility of my work is also very important to me. ComReg fosters a culture of encouragement and cooperation where teamwork and collaboration are valued. I would strongly recommend working in ComReg as there are lots of opportunities for personal and professional development, and to work on interesting projects with skilled colleagues.
