Division overview 

The Corporate Services Team 

The Corporate Services Division develops and implements corporate affairs and communications strategies designed to enhance our organisational performance and effectiveness. It is a key function, supporting all other Divisions across ComReg in the areas of Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, Communications & Public Relations, and Facilities Management.

The role and responsibilities 

We are looking for a proactive, highly-motivated individual with excellent written and verbal skills to join our Public Affairs team. Reporting to the Communications Manager, Public Affairs, the Communications and Public Affairs Assistant plays a key role in identifying and communicating key messages, statements and decisions to the media and to the public. It is pivotal in terms of developing effective working relationships with ComReg’s key stakeholders and as well as leading the development and maintenance of ComReg’s Digital Strategy including website and social media presence.

Responsibilities 

• General communications and administrative duties as required, including monitoring several inboxes, media purchases, notice publications and maintenance of our contact database.

• Assist with delivering and maintaining an internal communications framework that provides clear, informative and engaging two-way communication across the organisation making full use of all IT available to the organisation.

• Assist with handling of press and media queries in cooperation with the Communications Manager.

• Help to manage ComReg’s websites and services in cooperation with the Information Technology Manager – this includes creating content, managing network of internal content creators, uploading of regulatory documents and providing training and upskilling as required.

• Liaise with our website partners and contribute to defining new and ongoing website development requirements.

• Responsible for defining SEO reporting using Matomo (web analytics software platform) in conjunction with our Website partners.

• A high level of fluency in the Irish Language to assist with our commitments to the Irish Language.

• Management and implementation of our Digital Media Strategy. Managing our social media strategy including Twitter and LinkedIn account management and frontline interface. Monitoring social media for mentions of ComReg and information relevant to the organisation and wider telecommunications sector and preparing reports.

• Assisting with the drafting and collating of key documents from the Public Affairs office such as our Annual Report.

• Highlight key issues arising in press and other media and managing media monitoring service provider.

Qualifications and Experience required 

Essential 

• Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field.

• Proven experience in a communications / media relations role, particularly experience of dealing with journalists.

• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with strong attention to detail.

• Strong digital skills: previous experience of monitoring, updating and creating content for content management systems (e.g. WordPress) as well as social media accounts.

• Excellent understanding of the Irish media and political / policymaking landscapes.

• A high level of fluency in the Irish Language, both written and spoken.

• Proven track record of delivering to tight deadlines.

• Proven experience with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

Desirable 

• Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field.

• An independent thinker, self-directed, taking personal responsibility for the delivery of objectives and overcoming challenges.

• Previous experience in event planning and management.

• Previous experience of the telecoms and communications sectors.

• Strong business acumen and solution-orientation mindset.

• Salary €43,559 – €64,529 * (Pay increases will be awarded annually subject to satisfactory performance)
