ComReg Graduate Programme

We are the statutory body responsible for regulating electronic communications, postal and premium rate services in Ireland. Our Programme

Over the course of the ComReg two-year graduate programme, you will rotate across two of our divisions giving you the opportunity to develop your skills and gain experience in regulation, policymaking, analysis, team-working, communication and stakeholder management. ComReg will provide you with ongoing support and training and there will be ample opportunity for professional development allowing you to contribute to shaping and implementing complex regulatory policy initiatives.  Our graduate programme is all about:

  • Turning theory into practice and helping to shape regulatory policy making in challenging and dynamic real word situations
  • Developing key competencies – such as the ability to communicate complex problems in a clear and understandable way
  • Providing you with the opportunity to work in multidisciplinary teams and interact with all levels of management in a professional office environment.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for graduates and post-graduates with a background in economics, data science, geography or other closely related discipline with a relevant quantitative element.

What will I be doing?

We are seeking graduates who want to be challenged in developing their skills and knowledge through working across a range of regulatory initiatives, enabling them to make the transition from education to full-time employment. You will work collaboratively with analysts, economists, data professionals, solicitors, technical experts, accountants and external advisors on initiatives regarding the development of competition, spectrum policy, consumer protection and other strategic issues. Depending on the area you are assigned to, your role will include elements of the following:

  • Assessing electronic communications markets and related markets to understand the nature and extent of competition within them, and the nature of market failures, including whether any service provider has market power
  • Assisting in the design and execution of regulatory policy initiatives, including carry out regulatory impact analyses, aimed at promoting effective competition, and safeguarding consumers in electronic communications markets
  • Assisting with the design, collection, analysis and presentation of data/information, including mapping/geographic data, for the purposes of evaluating regulatory initiatives, monitoring key trends and developments across a range of electronic communications, broadcasting and other markets
  • Providing support and assistance in consultations for key projects as they relate to the regime for the electronic communications sector in Ireland, including the management of the radio spectrum and the national numbering plan
  • Engaging with stakeholders, including other regulatory bodies and contributing to ComReg’s international work
  • Drafting reports for consideration by management as part of ComReg’s decision-making process.

You will be part of an intake of up to 8 graduates who you will have the opportunity to work and interact closely with over the course of the programme.

What do I need to apply?

  • A degree or postgraduate qualification in economics, data science, geography or other closely related discipline with a relevant quantitative element

  • Excellent IT skills with a proven ability to learn new technologies quickly

The Package

We are offering an attractive package:

  • Salary €37,500 in year one rising to €39, 500 in year two (subject to satisfactory completion of year one)
